Athens City Code

The city council may or may not approve the closure or abandonment of a street or right-of-way, or any part thereof, with such conditions or limitations as the council deems necessary and proper to preserve any public use or benefit. Council approval may contain a provision retaining or requiring conveyance of easements for construction, repair and maintenance of existing and future utilities and services.
