Mr. Eaton,

On behalf of Athens Utilities Board, | would like to ask the Athens City Council to consider
allocating some funds to a fiber to the home project that would benefit two neighborhoods inside the
Athens City Limits. While designing a fiber to the home project that is being funded by the McMinn
County Commission, we discovered that Belmont Hills and Hunter Branches Subdivisions on John J
Duncan Parkway Between Highway 11 and Interstate 75 do not have high speed internet access.

An estimated $30,000 would help AUB provide fiber to the home service for these 24
customers. AUB is preparing to service parts of the Pond Hill (Niota) and Nonaburg (Englewood)
communities as we speak. AUB is willing to offer 300mb service for $60/month or 1GB service for
$100/month. McMinn County allotted AUB money from ARP money that was earmarked for fiber
broadband. It is our hope that you also have access to this type of fund that would assist us in reaching
unserved fiber broadband customers.
