XII. e. Approve Purchase of a 2022 Ford F550 Altec bucket truck for the Public Works 
Department Traffic Control Division & Surplus of asset #4263, a 2008 Ford F550 Altec, to 
be sold using GovDeals. 
 
Summary 
The Public Works Department, Traffic Control Division, is requesting to replace its current 2008 
Ford F550 Altec bucket truck with a 2022 Ford F550 Altec bucket truck at a cost of $131,777. The 
2022 bucket truck has 0 PTO hours, 0 engine hours, 882 miles, and a remaining portion of the 3 
year/36,000 mile warranty as well as other warranties. Funds for this purchase were included in 
the Fleet Fund. Tennessee Code, 12-3-1202, allows cities to purchase used equipment from private 
entities without public advertisement and competitive soliciting. A recommendation memo from 
the Public Works Director  and truck specifications are attached. If approved and after the 
equipment is received and placed into service, the existing bucket truck will be listed as surplus 
equipment and disposed of on the online auction site, GovDeals.com 
 
This item was discussed during the November 12, 2024 work session and consensus was to 
consider this item during the November 19, 2024 regular session.

A motion, a second, and a vote are needed. A majority of all members of the council shall be 
required to pass this motion.  (City Charter Article V Section 13)
