RE: Resolution No. 2026-23 
 
Overview 
Resolution No. 2026-23 authorizes the City of Athens to apply for the Tennessee Department 
of Tourist Development FY27 Tourism Enhancement Grant for Regional Park ball field 
improvements, specifically dugout covers and spectator shade structures. 
The City may request up to $100,000 through the grant program. McMinn County is designated 
as a Tier 3 county, making the City eligible for a 90% grant / 10% local match.  
 
Financial Impact 
The Regional Park ball field improvement project is included in the FY27 Hotel/Motel Fund, 
which will provide funding for the required local match; therefore, no additional appropriation 
is required.
