Page 1 of 3 ATHENS CITY COUNCIL MINUTES OF MEETING August 20, 2024 The Athens City Council met in regular session on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. in the Athens City Hall Council Chambers with Mayor Sherlin presiding. Councilmember Witt-McMahan gave the invocation. Councilmember Pelley led the Pledge of Allegiance. Upon roll call, the following members were present: Curtis, Witt-McMahan, Pelley, Eaton, Sherlin The following decisions were made and ordered made a part of the records of the Athens City Council. -1- APPROVAL OF MINUTES Councilmember Curtis moved to approve all three (3) session minutes: (July 16, 2024 — regular meeting; July 29, 2024 — called meeting; and August 1, 2024 — called meeting); Councilmember Pelley seconded. Minutes approved. Roll call vote: AYES: Curtis, Witt-McMahan, Pelley, Eaton, Sherlin NAYS: None -2- COMMUNICATIONS AND SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS TWU Bulldogs men’s baseball team was presented with a proclamation by Councilmember Curtis for their outstanding 2024 season. Three (3) competitors in the 29" annual All-American Soap Box Derby were recognized. 1. Breylin Hagerty was presented with a proclamation by Councilmember Pelley. 2. Anniemaye Johnson was presented with a proclamation by Councilmember Witt-McMahan. 3. Titus Millsaps was presented with a proclamation by Vice Mayor Eaton. -3- CITIZEN’S COMMENTS Three (3) citizens addressed the council with their opinions and concerns. Councilmember Pelley also addressed the council with his opinions. -4- CONSENT AGENDA Mayor Sherlin advised the recording clerk to read the following items into the record:
