PUBLIC WORKS TO: C. Seth Sumner, City Manager FROM: Kevin L. Helms, Project Manager Ce: Ben Burchfield, Public Works Director DATE: November 2, 2022 SUBJECT: Public Safety Training Facility Engineering Agreement Background The City’s agreement with Stantec to provide engineering, design, and bid services for the Public Safety Training Facility was based upon some components being a fixed fee and others being based on time and materials. Because of a few different factors, the time needed to complete the process took longer than originally estimated. Some of the time and materials line items took longer than anticipated and resulted ina higher cost. Additionally, some of the design needed to be updated once we found out we were going to be able to acquire some of the adjoining property. This allowed us to provide greater space between site components which results in a more usable and safer design. Also, the need to break the bid documents into several alternates required additional time. As a result, an additional $31,500 is needed to cover the costs of the design and construction related services. Action Item Approve an amendment to the agreement with Stantec in an amount of $31,500 for services related to the Public Safety Training Facility. 29
