RESOLUTION NO. 2022-30 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE AWARDING OF A BID FOR SITE WORK RELATED TO THE PUBLIC SAFETY TRAINING FACILITY AND JOINT PARTICIPATION ON THE PROJECT WITH MCMINN COUNTY WHEREAS, the City of Athens recently opened bids for site improvements at the Public Safety Training Facility located on Redfern Drive; and, WHEREAS, McMinn County has indicated a desire to participate financially in this project with an amount to be determined at a later date; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Council to award the base bid to Wilson Construction in the amount of $703,994.09. This price is based on unit price and quantities for some items in the bid and may fluctuate based on actual quantities used during construction. Any change above the approved total will require a change order approved by the City Council; and, WHEREAS, McKinney Excavating is being rejected due to the aggregate base item included in the bid not meeting the bid specifications; and, WHEREAS, if McMinn County desires to fund alternates within the bid the contract will be amended to include those items or they will be rebid at a later time. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Athens, Tennessee, as follows: That the recitals above are true and accurate and form a part of the Resolution; and That meeting in regular session this 15" day of November, 2022 that the City awards the base bid to Wilson Construction. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Manager are authorized to sign a contract with for the completion of this project.
