MINUTES OF CALLED MEETING
October 30, 2024

The Athens City Council met in a called session on Wednesday, October 2024, at 1:00 p.m. with

Mayor Sherlin presiding. Mayor Sherlin gave the invocation. Vice Mayor Eaton led the Pledge of
Allegiance.

Upon roll call, the following members were present:

Curtis, Pelley, Eaton, Sherlin
Absent: Witt-McMahan

The following decision was made and ordered made a part of the records of the Athens City Council.

The purpose of the meeting, as issued in the “Public Notice of Called Meeting” posted on August 27,
2024, was made a part of these minutes:

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to all residents of Athens, Tennessee, and to all persons interested, that a
called meeting of the Athens City Council will be held at the Athens Municipal Building (Burkett L.

Witt Council Chambers) located at 815 North Jackson Street, Athens, Tennessee, commencing at
1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.

The purpose of this meeting is:
1. Public Hearing
Second Reading of Ordinance NO. 1134

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND TITLE 8 CHAPTER 2 OF THE ATHENS MUNICIPAL CODE PERTAINING THE
MEETING TIME OF THE BEER BOARD

2. Public Hearing
Second Reading of Ordinance NO. 1135

AN ORDIINANCE TO AMEND TITLE 1, CHAPTER 1 OF THE ATHENS MUNICIPAL CODE TO ALTER THE
ORDER OF BUSINESS OF REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS.

There will be an opportunity for citizens to comment. Prior to commencement of the meeting, all
citizens intending to address the city council must sign-in on the sheet located at the entrance of the
council chambers. The speaker must abide by the Citizens Decorum and Rules of Engagement.
