(“Kimley -Horn” or “the Consultant”), is pleased to submit this letter agreement (the “Agreement”) to the City of Athens (“the Client”) for professional consulting services for the above-referenced project. PROJECT UNDERSTANDING The City of Athens wishes to construct various improvements at the intersection of Decatur Pike (SR- 30) and Lee Erwin Road (CR-172). More specifically, the improvements are understood to include: • Installation of a new traffic signal with mast arms at the intersection • Installation of a new underground fiber connection to the signal cabinet at the intersection of Decatur Pike and Holiday Drive • Widening of Lee Erwin Road to three lanes from the property line between 2616 Decatur Pike and 1814 Lee Erwin Road, where the public right-of-way narrows, to the intersection of Decatur Pike and Lee Erwin Road • Realignment of Lee Erwin Road to align with the Days Inn driveway on the opposite side of Decatur Pike • Extension of the eastbound left-turn lane from Decatur Pike onto Lee Erwin Road • Construction of a westbound right -turn lane from Decatur Pike onto Lee Erwin Road and a westbound right-turn lane into the proposed restaurant driveway to be constructed at 2604 Decatur Pike Decatur Pike (SR-30) is understood to have a design speed of 55 MPH and Lee Erwin Road (CR-172) is understood to have a design speed of 20 MPH. 56
