Page 1of5 ATHENS CITY COUNCIL MINUTES OF MEETING October 17, 2023 The Athens City Council met in regular session on Tuesday, October 17, at 6:00 p.m. Mayor Sherlin presiding. The invocation was given by Council Member Pelley; and upon roll call, the following members were present: Curtis, Witt-McMahan, Pelley, Eaton, Sherlin. The following decisions were made and ordered made a part of the records of the Athens City Council. -1- APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the September 19°", 2023; regularly scheduled meeting was submitted and approved. Council Member Curtis moved; Council Member Witt-McMahan seconded. Roll call vote: AYES: Curtis, Witt-McMahan, Pelley, Eaton, Sherlin NAYS: None -pa- COMMUNICATIONS AND SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS PRESENTATION OF HONOR- ANDREW GUFFEE Andrew Guffee from the office of Marsha Blackburn presented a congressional award in honor of Burkett Witt. PRESENTATION OF PROCLAMATION- MAYOR SHERLIN; COUNCIL MEMBER WITT-MCMAHAN Mayor Sherlin and Council member Witt- McMahan presented a proclamation for Burkett Witt in his honor. EMPLOYEE OF THE QUARTER- NINA EDMONDS Jonathan Parrott fire department was presented with this award. “GIFTS FROM GAVIN”- CHIEF FRED SCHULTZ Donation from Weigel’s presented to officer Randy Queen and his wife.
