RESOLUTION NO. 2022-17 
 
A RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING INCREASING THE AWARD FOR 
PIN 123661.00 LOCAL PAVING PROJECT CONTRACT TO ROGERS GROUP, INC. 
 
 WHEREAS, the City solicited invitations to bid on PIN 123661.00 Paving of Various Streets 
in Athens, a local paving project funded through STBG (Surface Transportation Block Grant) funds 
on August 12, 2021 in accordance with TDOT requirements; and, 
 
 WHEREAS, the City previously approved Resolution 2021-34 to award Rogers Group, Inc. 
a contract in the amount of $1,066,988.50 to perform paving for this project; and, 
 
WHEREAS, the City previously approved Resolution 2022 -07 to increase the award to 
Rogers Group, Inc. in the amount of $1,097,731.16 to perform paving for this project; and, 
 
WHEREAS, in order to complete all paving required for this project the contract needs to 
be increased to $1,145,611.48, an increase of $47,880.32; and, 
 
 WHEREAS, Mattern & Craig, serving as the City’s engineering consultant, agrees with the 
revised contract amount. 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Athens, Tennessee, as 
follows: 
 
That the recitals above are true and accurate and form a part of this Resolution; and 
 
That meeting in regular session this 19 th day of July, 2022, the Mayor and City Manager 
are authorized to execute a contract and any required documents in regard to  increasing this 
contract amount.
