ATHENS CITY COUNCIL
MINUTES OF CALLED MEETING

November 6", 2023

The Athens City Council met in called session on November 6, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. with Mayor

Sherlin presiding. The invocation was given by Mayor Sherlin and upon roll call the following
members were present:

Curtis, Witt-McMahan, Pelley, Eaton, Sherlin

The following decision was made and ordered made a part of the records of the Athens City
Council.

The purpose of the meeting, as issued in the “Notice of Called Meeting” dated November 6,
2023, was read and made a part of these minutes:

NOTICE OF SPECIAL CALLED MEETING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to all residents of Athens, Tennessee, and to all persons interested,
that a called meeting of the Athens City Council will be held at the Athens Municipal Building
Burkett Witt Council Chambers located at 815 North Jackson Street, Athens, Tennessee,
commencing at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 6, 2023.

The purpose of this meeting is to:
1. Review the City Charter and discuss possible changes/updates to be made.

2. Vote on any charter changes the City Council deems necessary.

Any interested citizen is invited to be present.

REQUEST FROM CITIZENS

5 individuals addressed the Council in support of some Charter changes. 1 individual spoke

requesting that no actions be taken on the Charter and asked Councilman Pelley to resign or
be removed from council.
