Seth Sumner, City Manager Mike Keith, Finance Director FROM : Ben Burchfield, Public Works Director DATE : February 28, 2022 SUBJE CT: Purchase of Replacement & Surplus of Asset #4124 John Deere Tractor & #4128 Alamo Mower The Pu blic Works Department is requesting Council approval for purchase of a replacement tractor and mowing unit for the Street Cleaning Department. The tractor is currently on a 10-year useful-life cycle. A sset # 4124, a John Deere Tractor, was purchased in August 2013 for $45,286.46. Asset #4128, the Alamo flail mower, was purchase d in July 2013 for $44,200 , the combined unit totaling $89,486.46. The unit has seen extensive use, and the mower unit is beginning to exhibit significant wear and needs repairs. Due to significant increase in costs and build/upfitting delays across heavy equipment industries, the Department is looking to move quickly on purchase of the replacement unit as the equipment platform is currently in stock and ready for immediate upfitting and integration in the fleet in preparation for warm weather. The De partment recommends replacement via purchase of a John Deere 6105E 4WD tractor equipped equipped with an Alamo 22’ Machete grinding unit for $136,995.00. This price includes delivery of the equipment to the Public Works facility . This vehicle is being purchased through Sourcewell co -operative purchasing contract #052417 -AGI from CMI Equipment Sales, Inc . in Goodlettsville, TN. After receipt of the equipment, inspection, and addition to the City’s insurance coverage, assets #4124 & #4128 are to be listed as surplus and sold on GovDeals. 15
