MINUTES Recreation Advisory Board/Tree Board/Little League Board Department of Parks and Recreation The Recreation Advisory Board /Tree City USA Board /Little League Board met in a scheduled meeting on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 12:01 pm. Upon roll call the following members were present: Bob Miller, Ron Starr , Mary Scudder , Linda Long, Larry Rhodes , Johnny Coffman and Moises Contreras Upon roll call the following members were absent: The following guests and staff members were present: Matt Siniard, Reya Joseph, and Shellie Stephens The following decisions were made and ordered a part of the records of the Recreation Advisory Board/Tree City USA Board/ Little League Board. -1- MINUTES 12:02pm- Minutes for meetings held on June 20 th, 2024, we’re given to board, and we’re reviewed with no changes suggested. Motion made by Bob Miller, seconded by Larry Rhodes, to approve the minutes. Motion Carried -2- NEW BUSINESS Blue Cross Healthy Places Grant- 12:04pm Matt Siniard discussed the change to Ingleside Recreation Complex in place of Heritage Park. Matt discussed the updates to both the pool and skate park (tying into item D), and the new proposal for an inclusive play structure. TWU is proposing a joint application with the City of Athens/Parks & Recreation. Discussion of TWU involvement and priority of usage. Recommendations of a larger pool needed, and discussion of the need for a pool renovation to be ADA accessible/zero entry, due to age of the pool, and the skate park being renovated due to usage. Heritage Park LRPF Update 12:18pm Matt Siniard discussed the need for a pour in place mulch. Proposed playground plans shown in meeting packet. Two play structures, one for ages 2-5 and ages 5-12 years old. Price quotes will be given, and adjustment of plans may be made based on the quote. Discussion of 225 fields, with new score boards, score brain and score stand. Mary Scudder suggested switching playgrounds, moving the 2–5-year-old playground closer to the pavilion so parents can see their children from the pavilion where they may be sitting or hosting an event.
