ATHENS CITY COUNCIL

MINUTES OF MEETING
October 15, 2024

The Athens City Council met in regular session on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. in the
Athens City Hall Council Chambers with Mayor Sherlin presiding. Councilmember Witt-McMahan
led the invocation. Councilmember Pelley led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Upon roll call, the following members were present:

Curtis, Witt-McMahan, Pelley, Eaton, Sherlin
The following decisions were made and ordered to be part of the records of the Athens City Council.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Councilmember Curtis moved to approve the minutes of September 17, 2024;
Councilmember Pelley seconded. Minutes approved.

Roll call vote:

YEAS: Curtis, Witt-McMahan, Pelley, Eaton, Sherlin
NAYS: None

COMMUNICATIONS AND SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS

1. Mayor Sherlin presented Mitchell Moore with an appreciation plaque.
2. Vice Mayor Eaton presented a Proclamation to the Meridian Sun Lodge 50
commemorating their 200th anniversary.
3. Police Chief Fred Schultz presented Officer Ryan Anthony with the Chiefs’ Award for his
dedication to the City of Athens, its citizens, and the police department.
