painting, HVAC & electrical. You can do it without historic zoning, but you are
eliminating 30% of the grant money.

Meredith Wilson, who is on the design committee for Main Street, spoke about grants
and the historic preservation overlay. She said there is a disconnect between some
people who work in the city and Main Street. There was some continued discussion.

Mrs. Cardin explained that until this conversation of the downtown overlay came up,
she had very minimal contact with Main Street. Frank Clark (Communications) has more

communication with Main Street.

Mrs. Morgan asked if downtown property owners showed up to any meetings.

Mrs. Cardin said not regularly, but some showed up to the informational meeting that
was held earlier in the year.

There was further discussion.

Mrs. Cardin suggested that she, Chairperson McKeehan, and Sandra from Main Street
get together and form a plan of how they are going to move forward and work together.

Sandra said she would like to get some other voices to be heard at the next
informational meeting. There are some voices who dominate.

Mrs. Morgan suggested they get Brenda Bryan from the Lily Pad in Sweetwater or Sam
Moser who owns The Lazy Beagle Grill and Pub in Sweetwater.

The Historic Preservation Commission thanked Mrs. Morgan for coming and the meetin
was adjourned.
