SUBJECT: Request to Proceed to Bidding Phase II of the Public Safety Training Facility 
 
BACKGROUND 
Included in your packet is a copy of the design plans which have been developed by Stantec for the Fire 
Training Facility.  These documents include plans for the full development of the Fire Training Tower and 
the Driver Training Pad.  However, they are broken into a base bid package and multiple alternates so that 
a decision on moving forward can be made once actual construction costs are available.  This will give the 
City several options in regard to  how much o f the project should be included in Phase II.  The training 
room will be in a future phase of the project and certain alternate bid items could be included in that 
phase or a separate phase of the project at some point in the future. 
  
ACTION ITEM 
While there may be some minor changes needed to the project documents prior to bidding, the design 
provided is substantially representative of the final plans to be bid.  Therefore, we are requesting approval 
to move forward with bidding of the Public Safety Train ing Facility.  Once bids have been opened and a 
low and best bidder determined, a contract will be brought back before City Council for approval.
