IV. O. Designating Friday, December 26, 2025 as a One-Time Additional Paid Holiday 
for City Employees 
Overview 
Since the Christmas holidays fall on Wed. Dec. 24 and Thurs. Dec. 25 this year, it is requested 
that Friday, Dec. 26 be considered as a one-time additional paid holiday for city employees. 
According to the Finance Department, wages for this one additional holiday are estimated to be 
$9,800 and the cost of benefits is estimated to be $1,200 for a total payroll cost of $11,000 to 
pay the city employees that have to work on holidays including the Police Department, Fire 
Department, Animal Shelter, and Sanitation Department , which is customary for all city 
holidays. This additional holiday will be paid in the same manner and at the same rate as all 
other paid holidays. The funds needed will come from fund reserves.

f approved, residential garbage pick-up will be normal on Wed. Dec. 24. The  Thurs. Dec. 25 
pick-up will be Monday, Dec. 29 and the Friday, Dec. 26 pick-up will be Tuesday, Dec. 30.

Action to Consider 
Consensus is needed to move this item to the December 16, 2025 regular session for 
consideration.
