VIII. j. Approve Resolution No. 2024-23 to Apply for a 2024 Assistance to Firefighters Grant 
Overview 
The application period to apply for a 2024 Assistance to Firefighters Grant has opened and the Fire 
Department is requesting authorization to submit a grant application not to exceed $100,000 for 
Fire Department equipment consisting of three Lifepak 15 defibrillators. The deadline to apply is 
December 20, 2024. The federal grant is expected to be awarded during Fall 2025. If awarded, the 
city will have to match the grant at 5% of project cost. The city did receive one of these grants 
during 2022 to send Fire Department staff to advanced EMT school. The Fire Department staff 
will begin to prepare the grant application and have it ready for consideration for the December 
17, 2024 regular meeting in order to not miss the deadline. The recommendation memo and 
resolution are attached.

Following discussion, the consensus was to place this item on the December 17, 2024 consent 
agenda for approval. 
Action to Consider 
Motion, second, and vote are needed to approve Resolution No. 2024-23 and apply for a 2024 
Assistance to Firefighters grant as presented.
