RESOLUTION NO. 2022-29 
 
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A CAPITAL CONTRIBUTION IN THE AMOUNT OF $100,000 
TO THE ATHENS AREA COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS. 
 
 WHEREAS, the Athens Area Council for the Arts (Arts Council) is a recipient of annual funding from 
the Athens City Council; and 
 
 WHEREAS, the Arts Council has acquired additional building space and desires to renovate the 
facilities for additional space needed to provide more services for the entire community; and 
 
WHEREAS, the Arts Council has contracted with Wilson Construction Group for construction 
services; and 
 
WHEREAS, the Athens City Council desires to provide capital funding in the amount of $100,000 
toward the construction costs, with funding to come from the Capital Improvement Fund of the City; and 
 
WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated Section 6-54-111 authorizes municipalities to appropriate 
funds for the financial aid of nonprofit charitable organizations. 
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Athens, Tennessee, as follows: 
 
That the recitals above are true and accurate and form a part of this Resolution; and 
 
That meeting in regular session this 18th  day of October, 2022, the Athens City Council approves 
the $100,000 capital contribution from the Capital Improvement Fund to the Arts Council.
