SISTER CITIES PROGRAM MINUTES MEETING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS Wednesday, August 13, 2025 12:00pm – City Hall I. Welcome a. Roll Call: i. Present: Betty Ruleman , Larry Eaton, Ersa Henry, Randy Dowling , Becky Simpson and Joe Barnett ii. Absent: Lindsey Ferguson, Sandra Kinney and Austin Fesmire II. Approval of Minutes a. Motion was made by Ersa Henry , seconded by Randy Dowling, for the approval of the June 11, 2025 minutes. Motion carried III. New Business a. Chenzei Gakuin Recap – Betty Ruleman and Ersa Henry gave a recap on the students visit and reported that they completed a survey of their visit and results showed that expectations were exceeded in all categories, except food. The in -home visits were a huge success and having more SCRA’s was extremely helpful. b. Industry Representative Vacancy – Larry Eaton suggested asking Victoria White if another Denso employee would be interested. Other board members suggested asking Lindsey Feguson or Sandra Kinney for suggestions upon their return. d. Potential Isahaya Visit in October – SEUS Business Conference is October 28-29, 2025 in Tokyo, Japan. Travel for Larry Eaton, Randy Dowling, and Ersa Henry will be October 25; attend conference; travel to Isahaya on October 3 0; meet with Mayor, visit City Hall and school on October 31; return on November 1. A high -level translator will be needed for the trip and Yui -San has been recommended. Ersa will contact her for arrangements. Motion was made by Ersa Henry, seconded by Randy Dowling, for the Sister Cities to fund travel and accommodations, plus a stipend for Yui-San as the translator for the trip , not to exceed $6,000. Motion carried e. Pumpkintown – Discussion was held about still having a table at Pumpkintown.
