RESOLUTION NO. 2026-08 Page 1 of 1 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF ATHENS, TENNESSEE, TO ACCEPT GRANT FUNDING FROM THE TENNESSEE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO UPDATE SIGNAGE AT HERITAGE PARK. W HEREAS, the City of Athens has obtained grant funding for the renovation of Heritage Park through the Local Parks and Recreation Fund (LPRF); and W HEREAS, Heritage Park is a park owned and operated by the City of Athens Parks and Recreation since 1976; and W HEREAS, history, education, nutrition, and exercise are all integral components of healthy living; and W HEREAS, the Tennessee Department of Health provides funding for educational projects that promote healthy living; and W HEREAS, the City of Athens desires to accept grant funds from the Tennessee Department of Health in the amount of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) with no local match required, to provide for the design, manufacture, and procurement of updated signage for Heritage Park. W HEREAS, this grant represents a long- term public investment that will promote the history of Heritage Park, amenity rules, and exercise facts in support of the physical well-being of the community. N OW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ATHENS, TENNESSEE, THAT: T he Mayor, City Manager, or their designee is hereby authorized to execute and submit all necessary documents, agreements, and assurances on behalf of the City of Athens to accept grant funding from the Tennessee Department of Health in an amount not to exceed $10,000.00 for the implementation of updated signage at Heritage Park.
