FY 2024-25 ACCOMPLISHMENTS • Partnered with McMinn Regional Humane Society to provide services at the city’s Animal Shelter through an updated agreement. • Sponsored the annual Veterans Day Parade on a permanent basis. • Held the annual S trategic Summit at Tennessee College of Applied Technology , facilitated by the Southeast Tennessee Development District (SETD), to discuss and outline the general goals for the upcoming fiscal year. • Completed a traffic safety action plan to identify problematic and unsafe traffic areas throughout the city using a federal Safe Streets for All (SS4A) Grant. • Wrote a $1M Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to improve Knight Park, N. Jackson Street, and N. White Street. Grant application was not successful. • Approved a homeless camping ordinance. • Updated portions of the City Code. • Repaired the government access channel 95 and updated its content for better citizen and visitor communication. • Continue to update and modernize the city’s website for better citizen communication. • Continued the discussion of creating a historic overlay district for the downtown area. • Acquired routing software/hardware for garbage trucks to increase operational efficiency. • Installed a replacement generator for city hall. • Installed decorative fencing at Cedar Grove Cemetery. • Installed a Safe Haven baby box at Fire Station Headquarters using grant funds. • Selected an architect to begin the design of a new fire station #3 to be located on Elizabeth Street. • Selected an architect to begin the planning for the renovation and expansion of City Hall. • Leased the old Ingleside School to Tennessee Wesleyan University.
