7 Upon receiving the “Approval Pending Adoption” designation from FEMA’s review, adoption/resolution will be obtained for each participating jurisdiction. Review of Existing Information A preliminary review of existing plans, reports, and information was conducted during the initial phase of creating the McMinn County Multi‐Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. The primary purpose of reviewing this information was to identifying local hazards, recognizing local risks, and understanding different local vulnerabilities. It is important to note that McMinn County is a rural community and significant planning efforts for development, etc. , are limited. Therefore, inclusion of hazard mitigation concepts is sparse. Since this is McMinn County’s first hazard mitigation plan, changing the culture and getting buy‐in will take time as emergency management educates its community about the importance.
