Average Number of Tornadoes Per Year The severity of tornadoes that may occur in the county is measured using the Enhanced Fujita Scale for tornadoes (see chart below). Based on tornado events in other East Tennessee counties, in a worst‐case scenario it is possible for the extent of a tornado to exceed an EF4 ranking.
