A tornado is a violently rotating column of air that extends from a thunderstorm, etc. down to 
the ground, and can reach wind speeds of 40 mph to 250 mph and higher. Tornadoes paths, 
lengths, and widths can vary greatly.  In McMinn County, all jurisdictions are vulnerable to 
tornado threats.  The following map places much of Tenness ee in the highest wind zone (see 
following map).
