ATHENS CITY COUNCIL 
MINUTES OF CALLED SESSION 
The Athens City Council met in called session on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. in 
the Athens City Hall Council Chambers with Mayor Eaton presiding. Councilmember Duggan led 
the invocation. Vice Mayor Curtis led the Pledge of Allegiance.

NEW BUSINESS 
Discuss and Authorize Negotiations for Proposed Real Estate Purchase 
Vice Mayor Curtis moved to authorize Mayor Eaton and City Manager Dowling to begin 
negotiations for the purchase of real estate, with a maximum expenditure limit of $1.35 
million; Councilmember Duggan Seconded. 
Following approximately 45 minutes of discussion, Vice Mayor Curtis moved to call the 
question, and Councilmember Sherlin seconded.
