SUBJECT: Replacement & Surplus of Asset #3974 New Holland Tractor 
 
The Public Works Department is requesting Council approval for purchase of a replacement 
tractor and mowing unit for the Street Cleaning Department. The tractor is currently on a 10-year 
useful-life cycle and was scheduled for replacement in 2021. Asset #3974, a New Holland Tractor, 
was purchased in  July 2010 for $ 25,864.00. The unit has seen extensive use  and is due for 
replacement.  
 
The Department recommends a replacement purchase of  a John Deere 5090E 4WD tractor  
equipped with 96” SHD rear flail & 62” Interstater side flail Alamo mowing unit for $134,261.93. 
This price includes delivery of the equipment  to the Public Works facility . This vehicle is being 
purchased through Sourcewell co -operative purchasing contract #0 70821-AGI from CMI 
Equipment Sales, Inc. in Goodlettsville, TN. Current build time and delivery estimates put the unit 
being delivered to Public Works sometime in March 202 3. The unit will immediately be put into 
service for the 2023 mowing season. After receipt of the equipment, inspection, and addition to 
the City’s insurance coverage, asset #3974 is to be listed as surplus and sold on GovDeals.
