Advisory Committee Assignment Oct. 2024 PG page 1 of 3 Ideas for the City: 1. Curb appeal for our Downtown: Photos attached The orange is where a tree was removed. Maybe a new tree can be installed if the stump is removed. All the business owners love the trees. They feel welcoming and obviously provide shade. However, we love the redbud in front of the shade, yet we have complaints people cannot find us several times during “leaf season”. Please do not cut the trees down—just trim the trees. When cutting the trees down—if that is necessary, maybe remove the stump as well. Main Street asked for help from the University of Georgia and they gave usa plan. There were several changes that sounded and looked great, and we were told all the changes and work would begin after the new school was finished. We need better curb appeal, currently have 5 kinds of sidewalks, the shrubs are not trimmed, several tree stumps need to be removed. Athens is compared many times a week to Sweetwater. Restaurants and beautification. Personally, I believe because the Sweetwater City Hall is located Downtown, the City Officials like it to look “pretty”. Even though we get assistance from the City, it is different when & 4 y> you don’t see it every day. cone
