MINUTES Recreation Advisory Board/Tree Board/Little League Board Department of Parks and Recreation The Recreation Advisory Board /Tree City USA Board /Little League Board met in a scheduled meeting on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 12:03 pm. Upon roll call the following members were present: Bob Miller, Moises Contreras, Ron Starr, Mary Scudder, and Linda Long Upon roll call the following members were absent: Larry Rhodes and Johnny Coffman The following guests and staff members were present: Matt Siniard, Reya Joseph, and Derek Phillips The following decisions were made and ordered a part of the records of the Recreation Advisory Board/Tree City USA Board/ Little League Board. -1- MINUTES Minutes for the scheduled February 22, 2024 meeting were not available yet due to Angela’s departure from the department and the decision was made to approve them during the June meeting. -2- NEW BUSINESS Ingleside Courts Update Matt Siniard explained to the Board, that the demolition at Ingleside has begun and he is meeting with Public Works Project Manager, Kevin Helms, this afternoon about lighting and asphalt laying. Siniard also told the Board that predicted opening is slated for early August. Heritage Park Update Matt Siniard informed the Board that Daniel Boutte has recently resigned from his position with Lose Design but left us with plans for Heritage with updated playground, walking trail, and discussed lighting options. They also had a brief discussion about potential floodplain improvements. Update on Lighting in Parks There was a discussion on the pedestrian lighting at Cook Park, Heritage Park, and Ingleside Park. Linda Long and Mary Scudder mentioned that the installment of better lighting could help deter mischief. Linda suggested we start by putting up lighting in all parks immediately. Matt is going to look into pricing to present it to City Council.
